MIT Design Advisor

This web-based design tools (provided by MIT for BuildingEnvelopes.org) emphasizes sustainability, building performance and impact on the building environment. Focusing on advanced facades, this simulation tool will allow the user to simulate energy consumption, including thermal solar gain, daylighting, and comfort, by changing various design parameters. This tool is geared to the "first 6 hours" of a design process and beneficial to architects and building owners.  more...

Project of the Month

EPFL Solar Energy Laboratory

The experimental building of the Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory (LESO-PB) was erected in 1981 on the campus of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), in order to allow on site testing of experimental solar facades. In 1999, the building was refurbished: a new southern facade was designed and built following the principles of sustainable development. (more information)
