My Approach?
I believe in the importance of the public school system, which should......
Empower Parents Parents are responsible for their children's education. Therefore, parents are the primary customers of the Fairfax County School System and should be treated as such.
Enable Teachers If teachers are to be held accountable, they must be provided with proven curriculum, the training and tools required to successfully teach all students.
Enhance Students' Futures Students' education must be grounded in the core skills of reading, writing, mathematics, history and science/technology. Promoting students when they have not mastered the skills of their grade level is harmful to their education and ultimately their future. Computer skills are crucial, but should not replace skills in spelling, grammar, performing basic mathematical computations and handwriting.

Connection Newspaper Editorial: For School Board At-large Pick Three for School Board At-large By Mary Kimm, Editor and Publisher October 17, 2007
“Early in his first term, Steve Hunt looked like he might serve on the School Board as an obstructionist naysayer. But while Hunt is more conservative than most parents in the county, he has matured into an important advocate for parents, students and teachers. He still is often the only vote on the losing side of an issue on the board, but his willingness to explore ideas and ask tough questions is invaluable on a board that is at times too harmonious and accepting of school staff positions.”
